Polypeptides are short chains of amino acids which are joined covalently by peptide bonds. Proteins are produced by the bonding of two or more polypeptides, which are then arranged biologically into a certain shape for a particular protein. The two ends of every polypeptide molecule have a free amino group and a free carboxyl group. They two ends are called N-terminal and C-terminal respectively.
