In order to make a profit, Steve must catch a total of 5 1/2 tons of shrimp each time he takes his boat out. He caught 2 1/4 tons of shrimp in the morning and 2 5/6 tons of shrimp in the afternoon. How many more tons of shrimp must Steve catch to make a profit?

Do 2 1/4 + 2 5/6 then what ever answer you get subtract by 5 1/2 answer : 5/12
