You have x^2 - 16 = 1 + 2x + x^2 ;
-17 = 2x ;
x = - 17 / 2 = - 8.5 ;
[tex] \sqrt{ ( - 8.5)^{2} - 16 } [/tex] = 1 + ( - 8.5 ) ;
2.12 = -7.5 False !
There is no solution !
