Jodi went 54 miles on 3.5 gallons of gas, and she wants to know how far she can go on 9 gallons of gas. Which proportion would be useful to solve the problem?

divide 54 miles by 3.5 gallons to get mpg (miles per gallon) = 15.43 miles per 1 gallon, then multiply that by 9 gallons = 138.86 miles per 9 gallons
